The office of Anambra South Senator-elect Emma Nwachukwu has strongly denied recent claims by AIF Media that he will be “the shortest served senator” and alleged that he entered into an agreement not to contest in 2027. The claims have been described as “calculated misinformation” aimed at misleading the public.
According to a statement from the senators Media office on Tuesday, the assertions are a desperate attempt to distract from the pressing task of governance and representation entrusted to Chief Nwachukwu by the people of Anambra South Senatorial District. The statement emphasized that Chief Nwachukwu’s mandate was freely given by the people, and he remains fully focused on fulfilling it with honour, transparency, and a commitment to people-oriented service.
The statement also clarified that any decision about Chief Nwachukwu’s future political plans, including whether or not to re-contest in 2027, will be made in consultation with his people and in accordance with their collective will.
The statement cited the wise words of the Governor, who noted that no serious office holder should speak of serving only one term, especially when the vision is to effect meaningful change. The Governor emphasized that one term is rarely sufficient to complete transformative development, and capable and visionary leaders must be supported to continue their good work.
The statement concluded by calling on all well-meaning individuals in Anambra South and the general public to see through the distraction and focus on the future. Chief Emma Nwachukwu is poised to bring effective, inclusive, and development-driven representation to the Senate, with his eyes fixed firmly on the job ahead.
