Members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) have apologised to the Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo led leadership of the Council over allegations that it mismanaged N369 million.
Recall that the NEC, being the apex organ of the NYCN, in January said it was suspending its National President, Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, over claims that he received N369 million from political parties and candidates during the 2023 general elections.
However, in a public letter of retraction on Tuesday, six of the NEC members said they have withdrawn all allegations against the Council president, Sukubo, pledging their loyalty to him.
The aggrieved NEC members include: Sir Smart Uwakwe, and Amb. Izunna Agwuncha, Vice President South East and Assistant Secretary South East, respectively; Comr. Clinton Avwoke, Comr. Ibrahim Inuwa Dangata, National Auditor and Assistant Secretary North East, respectively.
Others are Barr Bashir Garba, and Comr. Aminu Ubale Funtia, National Legal Adviser and National Financial Secretary.
“This is to notify the general public that we the underlisted Members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) hereby resolve to embrace Peace and work in one accord with the Leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo as the President,” the letter read.
It noted further that “We tender unreserved apology on the allegations of embezzlement of N369m and Forgery of NYCN CAC, with all other allegations against Amb. Sukubo, Comrades Innocent Nduanya, Suleiman Abutu and Nnamdi Ezemagu.
“All other actions taken during the crisis and all letter(s) written to Government Agencies, as well the Private Sectors, should be disregarded in totality forthwith, as we pass a vote of confidence on the President.
“We do not support any further efforts to divide the Council as we pledge our commitments to the Peace, Unity and Progress of the Council under the leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, while appreciating the timely intervention of Elders/ Stakeholders to restore sanity in the Council.”
