Police Arrest Two Suspected Thugs Over Attacks On PDP Bauchi Event

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested 2 suspects in connection with criminal conspiracy, disturbance of public peace and mischief, following an attack on PDP secretariat in Bauchi.

A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, gave the names of the suspects as Hamza Abdullahi, alias “Dawa”, of behind old Airport, Bauchi and Abdul Malik Dahiru, alias “Black” of Doya area, Bauchi.

It said that from a situation report received, unknown persons stormed the PDP secretariat office located along Maiduguri bypass while the party’s governorship primary election was in progress.

The intruders disrupted the peace of law-abiding citizens, vandalized the campaign banner of the PDP governorship candidate, and damaged the windsreens of several vehicles parked along the roadside before fleeing on motorcycles.

According to the statement, following the incident, which subsequently gained wide attention on social media, the command activated intelligence and investigative measures that led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

“The suspects have been handed over to the violent crime response unit, VCRU, Bauchi Command for discrete and comprehensive investigation, and upon conclusion will be charged to court,” the statement said.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly warned against acts capable of breaching public peace and destroying property, especially during political activities, assuring that the command will not tolerate any form of violence or political thuggery.
