Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has said that Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed’s unwavering support to the media in the past 7 years is worthy of commendation.
This was contained in a statement jointly issued by the chairman and secretary of the union, comrades Umar Sa’idu and Isah Garba Gadau, on the occasion of his 7th anniversary in office.
The statement which chronicled his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural development and youth empowerment, among others, expressed appreciation to the Governor for re-vitalising state-owned media organizations, noting that on going re-modelling of the NUJ secretariat reflects his commitment to providing journalists with a condusive and befitting professional environment.
It also acknowledged the Governor’s sponsorship of the Ist ever media summit organized by the state council of the NUJ last year, describing it as a landmark event that enhanced capacity building, strengthened dialogue,, and promoted professionalism within the journalism profession.
The statement added that the Governor’s support has further deepened the relationship between the government and the media community, creating opportunities for professional growth and development.
It restated that the Governor’s 7 years of purposeful leadership have produced visible results across critical sectors of the economy, describing them as remarkable achievements that continue to improve the lives of citizens and restore confidence in governance.
“The people of Bauchi can clearly feel the impact of these interventions, while the media have had a front-row seat in documenting the progress. We pray for Divine guidance, wisdom, and strength to continue to deliver more democratic dividends to the people,” the statement concluded.
