The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reassured the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) of the Senate’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the agency.
This assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the CCB Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Bello, and other members of the bureau to Akpabio’s office on Thursday, according to a press release from Jackson Udom, the Special Assistant on Media to the sweetie president on Thursday.
Akpabio acknowledged the crucial role of the CCB in promoting moral rectitude, discipline, and accountability among public officers. He emphasized the Senate’s reliance on the CCB’s asset declaration process, stating that the Senate does not clear any public officer without confirmation of their asset declaration acknowledgement form from the CCB.
The Senate President’s pledge of support comes at a time when the CCB is facing various challenges in its efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the public sector. The bureau has been working to strengthen its asset declaration process and enhance its capacity to investigate and prosecute cases of corruption.
Akpabio’s commitment to supporting the CCB is in line with the Senate’s efforts to promote good governance and accountability in the country. The Senate has been working to strengthen its oversight functions and ensure that government agencies are held accountable for their actions.
As the Senate continues to work with the CCB to address its challenges, Nigerians can expect to see greater transparency and accountability in the public sector. With the Senate’s support, the CCB can more effectively promote moral rectitude and discipline among public officers, ultimately contributing to a more corrupt-free society.
