As part of efforts geared towards facilitating socio-economic and infrastructural development of Oji River local government area, an economic summit involving captains of industries, entrepreneurs, indigents, other stakeholders and friends of the local government will hold on Monday, January 5,2025.
The chairman of Oji River Council area, Hon.Greg. Chijioke Anyaegbudike, gave this hints on Friday, December 6, when a delegation of stakeholders from Oji River Central Development Centres, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He stressed that the essence of the economic summit is to propagate an irreversible master plan of developing the local government area in the next 30 years.
Hon. Anyaegbudike lamented that Oji River is acclaimed to be one of the townships in Nigeria as far back as 1976, but it has remained undeveloped amidst it’s potentials.
His words, “We are looking up to Oji River in the next 30 years. It is when we have a master plan that we shall know that Oji River is ready for development. My administration will host Oji River Economic Development Summit on January 5,2005”.
Hon. Anyaegbudike assured his guests that his administration is trying all that is possible to live up with his campaign promises of improving on the health and economic welfare of the citizens and other residents. He said his administration is ever ready to partner with any group in achieving desired results in this direction.
He started, “All we need is to come together because it is all about Oji River. We need a hand of fellowship. We need partnership.There are so many things we can do together. We want to tap from the abundant human resources among us in our efforts to develop Oji River and it’s communities.
The Oji River local government chairman explained that his administration has already commenced processes of empowering the residents even though it is not all about physical cash.
He disclosed that his administration is looking up to facilitating digitalital economy in the council area and towards this direction has installed “Wi-fi” facilities within the Oji River Council headquarters,as such that the workers and visitors to the council area,at any point in time have access to free data till the close of work.
He promised to extend the same services to the three Development Centers in his council area.
The Oji River Council Boss urged the citizens to go for health insurance,stating it is another way of fighting poverty.
He said that health insurance encourages routine checks from medical experts and very economical when compared to the amount of money spent eventually,when somebody is hospitalized.
“Health insurance is the best way of fighting poverty. We have to encourage our rural dwellers to imbibe it. Let us also open a platform to engage our people on health insurance.Our platforms must not only be where to seek support for funerals, “,Hon.Anyaegbudike stated.
The Oji River local government chairman commended the ‘Smart School’ project initiated by the Enugu state governor,Dr Peter Mbah,as a project that will facilitate educational upliftment in Oji River Council area,as such his administration will cue into the project.
He said the establishment of Smart School in the 20 wards of Oji River Council area means that the rural children will no longer be struggling to be admitted in schools in the township,since they have being provided with same sophisticated school with same model of learning.
Hon.Anyaegbudike expressed gratitude to the stakeholders from Oji River Central Development Center for their visit and re stated his hand of fellowship to partner with all in the wholesome task of providing the best for the entire Oji River local government area.
Speaking earler,the stakeholders said the aim of the courtesy visit is to congratulate him on his successful election and to assure him of their maximum support to his administration.
Hon.Cletus Akalusi, the immediate past State Secretary of PDP, expressed optimism that Hon.Anyaegbudike will achieve great results on his present portfolio as Oji River Council Chairman, blanking on his experience and exposure on development and human relations.
Nze Jeff Ukeh who was the head of the traditional institution in the delegation,corroborated Hon Akalusi view, stating the much Hon.Anyaegbudike has delivered, in the past few weeks is a testament that he is committed to service Oji River.
The Coordinating President General of all President Generals in Oji River local government area,Hon.Ejike Illoh, commended Hon.Anyaegbudike,for appointing one of their members,Hon Chukwudi Madueke, as his Senior Special Assistant,on Politics.
Hon.Ugo Omere, among others, expressed the maximum support of stakeholders from Oji River Central Development Center to support Hon. Anyaegbu’s administration in all ramifications and thanked him for sparing time out of his ever busy schedule to interface with them.
