The Hajiya Hadiza Foundation on Saturday, held an end of year prayer with the less privileged in Abuja
At the event which took place at the unity fountain, the founder, Hajiya Hadiza used the occasion to distribute food items, clothing materials and cash to widows, children, the aged and the less privileged in the society as well as person’s living with disabilities.
A peep at the Foundation’s intervention history reveals that she has made significant contributions in empowering the less privileged, widows and orphans for some years now.
Speaking at the event, patron of the Foundation, Senator Yusuf .A. Yusuf, thanked Hajiya Hadiza for her unrelenting effort in putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged Nigerians.
He revealed that as the Senate Committee chairman on Special Duties during the 9th assembly, committee was instrumental to the creation of the Disability Commission. He stated that Nigeria has 35 million people living with disabilities adding that taking care of people living with disabilities and other vulnerable persons should not be left in the hands of individuals alone.
He commented Hajiya Hadiza for the selfless efforts of putting smiles on the faces of this set of Nigerians and especially for using her own funds without depending on the government in order to carry out her passion.
On her part, a very elated Hajiya Hadiza said she is happy whenever she is able to impact on anybody’s life.
She revealed that she lost her parents and 13 siblings at a very tender age but had to face life with equanimity. She said that she resolved to use the blessings from God to help the less privileged and to be the hope for the hopeless.
She enjoined the less privileged to feel free to call her any time as her doors are open to them.
Hajiya Hadiza who is fondly described as a blend of “Margaret Thatcher and Mother Theresa’ at the end of the year prayer and empowerment, distributed cash gift, clothing materials, rice, slaughtered two cows and shared to the over 100 widows and less privileged drawn from different parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and from different religions and backgrounds.
The event featured prayers, goodwill messages from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and UTA Nigeria, represented by Ambassador Abigail Amalaha, other partners and Imams.
It also featured presentation of Award by the Area Damji to Hajiya Hadiza in appreciation of the good work she has been doing as the reward for hardwork is more work.
