Kogi : Governor Ododo disburses N3bn to 80 communities

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has distributed N3 billion to over 2,381 beneficiaries across 170 groups in 80 communities as part of the Agro-climate Resilience in Semi-arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project.

This initiative, executed in collaboration with the World Bank, aims to mitigate climate change impacts through the Community Revolving Fund.

During a ceremony at the Government House in Lokoja on Monday, Governor Ododo emphasized that the fund aligns with his administration’s drive for food security and sustainable agricultural practices.

He reassured stakeholders of the government’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to the success of ACReSAL and its long-term objectives of promoting sustainable landscape management and climate resilience across Kogi State’s 21 local government areas.

In a statement by Ismaila Isah, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing sustainable agriculture and supporting the welfare of families nationwide.

Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engineer Joseph Oluwasegun, described the Community Revolving Fund as a milestone that positions Kogi State as a hub for food security in Nigeria. He urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously to ensure broader community benefits.

State Coordinator of ACReSAL, Barrister Ladi Ahmed Jatto, highlighted that the fund is an interest-free investment initiated in June 2024, with over 2,381 direct beneficiaries during its first phase. She noted that the second phase underscores the successful deployment of the first round and commended the state government’s effective management, as recognized by the World Bank Task Team.

Jatto encouraged recipients to maximize the fund’s potential, reminding them that it represents a World Bank loan guaranteed by the Kogi State government.
