Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adéọlá, popularly known as Yayi, has been affirmed as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, following a collective agreement announced at a press briefing.

Flanked by Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) and Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, Senator YAYI declared that the decision was reached to present a united front ahead of the next governorship election in the state.

Speaking to the press, Yayi first gave glory to God for what he described as a “significant day,” while appreciating the Governor of Ogun State for his “exemplary leadership at this critical time.” He also thanked leaders of the APC who gathered at the State Caucus meeting to witness the moment.

The Senator specially acknowledged Hon. Isiaka and Hon. Akinlade for their “maturity, sacrifice, and commitment” in ensuring the party produced one consensus candidate. “Today, I declare clearly — there is no winner and no loser. We are one united and indivisible family,” he said.

Yayi outlined the collective goal as the unity of Ogun West, the unity of the party, and the unity of Ogun State as a whole, stressing that “the state is bigger than any individual.” He noted that the present administration has laid a solid foundation, both infrastructurally and economically.

He pledged that his leadership would be “responsible and forward-looking,” determined to consolidate on existing achievements and “take Ogun State to the next level.” Addressing residents directly, he assured: “A new dawn is here. Greater development is ahead. Continuity and progress are guaranteed.”

The APC consensus candidate thanked the party for the trust reposed in him, vowing, “I will not let the party down, and I will not let the people down.” He described the opportunity given to Ogun West as historic.

Closing his address, Yayi called for unity among party members and supporters, urging them to “sheathe their swords.” He added: “This is not a time for division, but a time for unity. From this moment forward, we must speak with one voice, act with one purpose, and move forward as one people — for the greater good of Ogun State.”
