Youth forum applauds Matawalle over Zamfara’s development, knocks Dauda

The Zamfara Youth Forum has commended the contributions of Dr. Bello Matawalle, former Governor of Zamfara State and current Minister of State for Defence, for reshaping governance in a state once marred by instability and neglect during his tenure from 2019 to 2023.

In a statement issued by the Forum’s spokesperson, Abdulrahman Habibu Gusau, Matawalle’s administration was praised for tackling critical challenges such as insecurity, poverty, and leadership inefficiencies that had left Zamfara in a dire state.

“When he assumed office, Zamfara was grappling with rampant insecurity and socio-economic challenges,” the statement noted.

“Yet, within four years, Matawalle spearheaded transformative initiatives that set the state on a path of recovery and progress.”

The Forum, which criticized Governor Dauda Lawal over poor development in the state, highlighted Matawalle’s focus on infrastructure development, particularly in road construction and rehabilitation when he held sway as governor.

“One of the hallmark achievements of his tenure was an unprecedented focus on infrastructure development, particularly in road construction and rehabilitation. The completion of key roads, such as the Canteen Daji Area road, provided critical access for residents and improved the state’s connectivity.

“Similarly, the rehabilitation of the Kwanar Inno Doya-Sabon Gari Road, stretching from Sarkin Tasha Mosque through Sardauna Bread to Late Ladan Mada House, underscored his commitment to improving urban mobility.

“The revitalization of roads linking strategic areas, such as the Old Motor Park near Auwal Bread through the railway and connecting to CIS, the Government House Road, and Jifatu Supermarket, significantly boosted economic activity and ease of transportation.

“Another notable milestone was the suburban road development along Kantin Sauki line, extending to Liman Dan Alhaji Sambo’s residence and connecting to the Emir’s Palace Mosque, fostering community integration and accessibility.

“Further exemplifying his administration’s impact were projects in Kanwuri Gusau, Tudun Wada, and Sabuwar Hanya. The road from Tsamiya Masaka to Koramar Boko House, with a link to Sunny Fast Food, was also completed, facilitating seamless movement within these bustling areas.”

According to the Forum, these projects not only improved infrastructure but also revitalized economic activity and restored hope to the people.

The statement lauded Matawalle’s empathetic leadership, describing it as a model for transformative governance capable of delivering progress in difficult circumstances. His tenure, the Forum added, remains a testament to what determined and focused leadership can achieve in adversity.
