Space technology : Gov Ododo seeks NASRDA support to boost security, agriculture

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to enhance his administration’s efforts in tackling insecurity, advancing agriculture, implementing land reforms, and driving growth in other critical sectors using the agency’s cutting-edge space technology and innovative expertise.

The governor made the appeal during a meeting with NASRDA’s Director General, Dr. Mathew Olumide Adepoju, on Monday.

A statement released on Tuesday by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, noted that Governor Ododo, accompanied by senior government officials, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with NASRDA.

He emphasized that the collaboration aims to improve the state’s Geographic Information System (GIS), strengthen land reform initiatives, boost agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and enhance public safety.

Governor Ododo also emphasized the technological and innovative resources available at NASRDA, urging the agency’s leadership to align with the state’s development goals as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and NASRDA last year in Lokoja.

In response, Dr. Mathew Olumide Adepoju, NASRDA’s Director General, lauded Governor Ododo’s achievements in infrastructure and other developmental strides within his first year in office.

He expressed appreciation for the governor’s adoption of space technology to address insecurity and foster economic growth. Dr. Adepoju assured that the partnership between NASRDA and the Kogi State government would be sustained for the benefit of the people of Kogi State and the nation as a whole.
