We’re fulfilling our promise to Kwali people – Wike

By Daniel Tyokua

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, said President Bola Tinubu’s administration has so far started fulfilling the promise made to the people of Kwali Area Council.

Speaking at the inauguration of the completed 11 kilometre Yangoji -Sukuku- Ebbo road, Wike said the project was one of the requests tabled before him by the people.

He said Tinubu had directed him to give to the people what they requested for, saying
completion of access road connecting communities in the area and other places is a promise kept.

The 11 kilometre road contract was awarded to Gilmor Nigeria Limited on the 5th January, 2024, while the main work commenced on 12 January, 2024.

Wike said, “Mr. President said anything Kwali people want, if you ask me, we will do it. Sometimes last year, the minister of state and my humble self, we visited Kwali, where we had stakeholders meeting, and in that meeting, you told us what your problems were. One of the problems you told us that day, was for us to construct this particular road.

” I thank God Almighty that we made that promise, and today is a promise fulfilled, and a promise fulfilled. And you can see, you are the first community, where we are doing road and put street lights.

“That is to tell you that the government of Tinubu is committed to the development of our people. Therefore, all we urge you to do is just to be patient. If you are patient, at the end of the day, we will benefit from this administration.

“We made promise of building some police stations, that is ongoing. Let me thank Gilmore Company for what you have done. As far as this school is concerned, I also urge other companies to emulate Gilmore by contributing for the development of the community.

“This is the road that I have awarded to Gilmore, and they have filled the road on time, but they did not end up there. They had to renovate this school”.

On his part, the chairman of
Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya said completion of the road had put an end to banditry and kidnapping in the area.

He urged the minister to help the people to construct river Ebbo bridge to connect other communities.
