Capacity building: No NICRAT staff is permitted to fail in any given assignment, DG warns

The Director General of the National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), Prof. Usman Malami Aliyu, has reiterated that with the huge investment the Institute has made in the area of capacity building, no staff is permitted to fail in any given assignment.

He disclosed this while declaring open a five-day training and sensitization program on the implementation of Treasury Circular on the Revised Cash Management policy in Abuja, Thursday, April 3, 2025.

Treasury Circulars are issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and often play very important roles in guiding and implementing cash management policies and procedures, ensuring efficient financial operations.

The training which drew participants from the Finance /Account department, Audit and Procurement units was organized in partnership with D&G Ventures.

Speaking, the NICRAT Director General disclosed that NICRAT places great importance in the training and retraining of its workforce.

This, according to him, is to enable them perform their duties optimally, professionally and also contribute to the growth of the organization and by extension, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led federal government.

Represented by the Chief Executive Officer (Publicity), Mr. Hassan Zaggi, the Director General recalled that since late last year, NICRAT has organized series of trainings for staff of various departments in order to expose them to the needed technicalities and know-how on how to perform their duties excellently.

He reiterated that with these series of trainings, no staff of NICRAT should fail to deliver on any given assignment.

Prof. Malami, therefore, charged the benefiting staff to take advantage of the training, concentrate, learn new things and put them into practice.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the Head of Finance and Accounts department, Hajiya Hajara Abubakar, commended the management of the Institute under the leadership of Prof. Malami for approving the training which, according to her, will add value to the staff of the benefiting departments.

She called on the beneficiaries to be attentive in order to ensure the aim of the investment by the management is achieved.

On his part, the D&G Human Development Consultant, Mr. Idris Olayinka, apologized that the training was supposed to have taken place before now, but that it was postponed due to factors beyond human control.

He, therefore, commended the NICRAT Management and the staff for their patience and massive attendance, which, according to him, was encouraging.

He further appealed to heads of departments to further cascade the knowledge to those who were not around.

In her presentation, Lilian Aikpikanji, charged the participants to adhere to the cash management policies in their daily activities in order to avoid harsh consequences.

The high point of the training was the presentation of certificates to participants.
