The chairman of Nsukka local government area, Enugu state, Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa, has appraised the disruptive innovation agenda policy of the present administration in Enugu state under the able leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing it as an effective strategy that is impacting socio economic development in Nsukka local government area,more than ever before.
According to him, Governor Mbah has invested projects worth over N30 billion naira in his council area,far higher than previous administrations in the state.
He said he is also replicating the disruptive innovation policy based on the support giving to the serving council chairmen in Enugu state by Governor Peter Mbah
He stressed that his council administration has been able to touch on the needs of the rural communities in Nsukka local government area in the past few months he took over as the elected chairman, stating a lot more are still in the offing.
Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa gave this hints at the weekend when he featured on ‘Freedom Square’, a Radio programme on Solid FM 109 Enugu, anchored by Dr.Uchenna Cyril Anioke, through which leaders and those in authority renders their account of stewardship to the people.
The Nsukka Council boss was very bold to say that the level of socio infrastructural development that are on going at Nsukka local government area at the moment, gingered by Governor Peter Mbah is very unparalleled.
He said that the people are very happy with the tremendous progress upon which they have accorded the title of ‘NWANNE DI NAMBA which literally means a,brother from a different town’ to him.
“What Governor Mbah is doing at Nsukka is what we had the opportunity to do but didn’t do it. That is why we call him Nwanne 1 of Nsukka”, Asogwa stated.
According to him, the domestication of the mantra ‘Tomorrow is here’s is a reality in Nsukka local government area as there are a total number of 33 projects that are currently on going in the communities,based on the support Governor Mbah is giving to the respective Council administration.
Hon.Asogwa said that when he came on board he set up a committee that visited each Community in Nsukka local government area to assess the most three vital need of the people, of which they can at least execute of them.
He revealed the visit to every community to assess their most important need is paying off as the people of Ibagwa Agu Community that has never enjoyed electricity ever in their life are now powered.
The Ibagwa Eze Community rural electrification project have been completed, awaiting the step down of light into the community.
He mentioned the Oha-Ndiagu access rural road as a very good achievement of his council,stating it takes up to two hours drive from Nsukka town to the community. But now the community is happy they are linked up to Nsukka town once more.
The Ugwuoye erosion control project is also being executed by his Council administration,Hon.Asogwa stated.
He explained that the people of Owere Leja community who were spending a whole day to fetch water and return to their village now have steady source of water from the borehole his administration sank in their Community.
The idea of available and steady water supply at the local government secretariat has also being achieved by his administration.
Hon. Asogwa mentioned his on going projects to include the construction of an International Conference Center at Adada house Nsukka through Private Public Partnership (PPP). He said the idea is to replicate what Governor Mbah has done in Enugu metropolis since the distance is far away for conferences made for business enterprises in the Enugu North Geo political zone. Therefore,the pertinent to domicile another conference center in Nsukka.
On the issue of security,he disclosed that the state government is doing a lot in that direction.
In addition, his administration with his colleagues from Isi-Uzo,Enugu East and Igbo Etiti council areas are collectively initiated some strategies to curtail the menace of insecurity that transpires from parts of the road that links Enugu to Nsukka, cutting across the above four mentioned council areas. But ordinarily, Commutters refer to it as Opi Nsukka to Enugu road.
Hon. Asogwa stressed in partnership with other local government chairman under Enugu North Senatorial district,they are working closely to establish an economic hub that will advance socio economic development of the zone.
On human Resource Development, the Nsukka Council chairman, said he is establishing Nsukka Tech hub,where 200 youths from various communities will under three months training on how to become ICT compliance.
As a strategy to accommodate people with special needs,his administration appointed one of them as his special advisers with a monthly budget of five hundred thousand naira to respond to the needs of people with special needs.
Hon. Asogwa disclosed as a demonstration of the commitment of his administration to render service to the people of Nsukka local government area,he held an all stakeholders town hall I on 24th December,2024 and urged the people to work along with them as one people, irrespective of party of affiliation.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for having lived above expectations and for the great support and idea which has enabled him to make giant strides in augmenting the disruptive innovation mantra in Nsukka local government area.
