FCT deserves quality services in agriculture sector – Official

The mandate secretary FCT Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS), Abdullahi Ango has said the nation’s capital, Abuja deserves quality services in the agriculture sector.

He stated this on Thursday, when Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation led by the Agency’s country representative in Nigeria, professor Wataru Yamazak visited him.

In a statement issued by the Director Information in the secretariat, Zakari Aliyu, Ango explained that as Nigeria’s capital, the Territory deserves top-tier services, particularly in critical sectors like veterinary services.

He assured the delegation of the FCT Administration’s commitment, under the leadership of the Minister, Nyesom Wike with the Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud in supporting initiatives that align with the vision of making Abuja one of the world’s best capital cities.

The statement reads in parts, “The current FCT leadership is prioritizing infrastructural development, not just in the city centre but across all the six Area Councils.

“Having recently assumed office, I am keen on strengthening our collaboration with JICA to further advance the agriculture sector.

“As Nigeria’s capital, the FCT deserves top-tier services, particularly in critical sectors like veterinary services”

In his remarks, JICA country representative in Nigeria, Prof. Wataru Yamazaki pledged the Agency’s commitment to train FCT veterinary doctors.

He explained that the visit aimed to develop a tailored training manual in partnership with the Secretariat’s Veterinary Services Department, focusing on modern abattoir management and global best practices.

Earlier, the Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Idris Ademoh, expressed confidence that the training would enhance service delivery and efficiency in the veterinary sector of the Territory.
