In a groundbreaking achievement, Nigerian journalist Livinus Chibuike Victor has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest interviewing marathon, lasting 75 hours and 19 minutes. The record-breaking event, held at Harrow Park Golf Club in Abuja from April 17 to 20, 2025, was a powerful tribute to press freedom under the theme “Nigeria Our Strength.”
Livinus conducted over 215 interviews with diverse guests, including civic leaders and everyday Nigerians, sparking conversations about press freedom and its role in strengthening society. He surpassed the previous record of 55 hours and 24 seconds, set by Clara Chizoba Kronborg in March 2024, by over 17 hours.

“This isn’t just about endurance,” Livinus said. “It’s about showing the world how vital a free press is to democracy. Journalists face censorship and threats, yet we keep going. This marathon is for them.” He emphasized that a free press is essential for informed citizens and a thriving democracy.
The event received support from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, with Chairman Grace Ike praising Livinus’s effort as “a bold and inspiring act that shows journalism’s power to drive change.” Moses Obi Adigwe, winner of Nigerian Idol Season 3, 2013, also congratulated Livinus, saying, “I’m proud of you Livinus Chibuike Victor, the world is your stage go and conquer and fly Nigeria’s flag high.”
Livinus plans to take his storytelling to new heights, including hosting an interview in Antarctica and advocating for press freedom across 54 African nations. His record-breaking achievement has sparked renewed conversations about the importance of press freedom and the challenges journalists face worldwide.
