The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has expressed deep sadness over the recent violent attacks in Benue State, which resulted in loss of lives and property. In a statement signed by its Chairman, Sen. Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, the NSF extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for their eternal rest, according to a press statement from the forum signed by its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua on Wednesday.
The NSF also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks. The forum commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the affected areas, describing it as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the region.
The NSF urged the federal government to follow up with concrete actions to ensure justice and prevent future occurrences. Specifically, the forum called for: Increased funding for the military and other security agencies to acquire modern equipment needed to prosecute the war against terrorists and insurgents; and Enhanced inter-agency collaboration through regular dialogue and coordination among security agencies.
The NSF reiterated its commitment to working with the government and stakeholders to address security challenges. The forum urged all Nigerians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
Sen. Yar’adua therefore emphasized that together, Nigerians can build a safer and more prosperous nation. The NSF’s statement underscored the need for collective action to tackle the security menace and ensure the well-being of Nigerians.
