Again, Bonny APC begs Fubara to run for Rivers LG polls

By Our Reporter

As the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) is inaugurated to commence preparations for the August 9 local government election in the state, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), loyal to State Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, have once again appealed to the Director-General of the APC State Assembly Forum (ASAF), Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, to contest the chairmanship of Bonny Local Government Area on the party’s platform.

The stakeholders had earlier made a similar call during the now-annulled local government election previously conducted by the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The renewed appeal by the Bonny APC stakeholders comes just weeks after former APC members of President Bola Tinubu’s Contact and Mobilization Committee in the 2023 presidential election campaign also urged the ASAF DG to contest the upcoming polls.

The Bonny APC stakeholders, which include notable figures from the Chief Tony Okocha-led faction, are urging Ambassador Fubara to declare his intention to run for the election in the interest of the long-desired development of the council.

Speaking on the capacity of the ASAF DG, one of the party leaders in Bonny LGA, Hon. Alaso Hart, stated that the party was calling on Ambassador Fubara Dagogo because of his proven track record and his commitment to the advancement of Bonny Local Government Area.

Hart disclosed that the majority of APC stakeholders in the area believe that they cannot allow Ambassador Fubara Dagogo’s development blueprint for the council to be abandoned. He added that no other aspirant has presented a clear and transformative vision for the area like Fubara.

“We assessed the current state of Bonny LGA and have once again called on Ambassador Fubara Dagogo to align with the APC and contest in the upcoming local council elections in Rivers State,” Hart said. “We have resolved to give him our total support and are prepared to mobilize our people on his behalf.”

“This resolution was reached after a careful review of his blueprint and development agenda for Bonny. We are focused on moving Bonny Local Government Area forward from its present condition. It would be unwise to let go of the visionary ideas this young man offers.”

“We, therefore, urge him to seek the ticket of our great party, the APC, and lead the repositioning of Bonny, which has always been his utmost desire. We are ready to work with him because, for us, it is all about the growth and progress of Bonny Local Government Area,” he concluded.
