Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio delivered a heartfelt tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari during a special session of the Expanded Special Federal Executive Council Meeting.

Senator Akpabio described President Buhari as a man “forged in the furnace of battle and tempered in the trials of governance.” He highlighted the late President’s unwavering commitment to duty, his principles, and his unshakeable belief in Nigeria’s promise.

As a former minister in President Buhari’s cabinet, Senator Akpabio shared his personal experience of the late President’s leadership style, describing him as a man of measured voice, deliberate steps, and austere public demeanor. However, beneath this calm exterior, Akpabio said, beat the heart of a patriot – unyielding, unbending, and utterly uninterested in personal comfort when duty called.

The Senate President praised President Buhari’s legacy, marked by monumental achievements that will be remembered for generations to come. He commended the late President’s commitment to discipline, integrity, and leadership anchored in something greater than power.

Senator Akpabio also acknowledged President Buhari’s toughness, born out of patriotism and a fierce belief that Nigeria, despite its challenges, was worth fighting for. He noted that even the late President’s fiercest critics would admit that he did not pilfer the nation’s purse or pander to its pleasures, remaining a sentinel of Spartan simplicity and austere integrity until the end.

In conclusion, Senator Akpabio prayed that God would bless President Buhari’s memory and the Republic he served, saying his life reminds us that greatness is not always loud, and history reserves its most solemn applause for those who labored not for fame, but for legacy [No search results were used to answer
