Team Muqaddas, in collaboration with the Tukur Tukur Youth for Political Progression, has commemorated the second anniversary of Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen’s tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, praising his role as a unifying figure in Nigeria’s legislative affairs.
Speaking at the celebration of the anniversary, Guest Speaker, Comrade Abdul Azeez Suleiman, recalled the tense atmosphere that surrounded the National Assembly when Abbas took the helm, describing it as “a period of uncertainty and division.”
He noted that Nigeria was in need of “a leader who could bridge the gaps, foster dialogue, and unite diverse voices under a common purpose.”
According to Suleiman, Iyan Zazzau has “not only risen to this occasion but has also redefined what it means to lead with integrity, compassion, and commitment to the people.”
He stressed that “leadership is not about holding position or power, it is about the ability to inspire, mobilize and to enact meaningful change.”
Reflecting on Abbas’ time in office, Suleiman said, “Under Speaker Abbas’ stewardship we witnessed a transformation in the dynamics of our legislative processes,” while also commending Aliyu Garba Waziri for his “pivotal role as the liaison officer for the Speaker.”
The Guest Speaker further emphasized Abbas’ commitment to inclusiveness, noting that he “championed inclusiveness, ensuring that every voice is heard and every concern is addressed.”
He added that “throughout this period Speaker Abbas has prioritized the people’s agenda and has listened to the aspirations of the citizens, translating their hopes and dreams into actionable policies.”
Suleiman urged the people of Zaria Federal Constituency to back Speaker Abbas for re-election in 2027, with the aim of retaining his position as Speaker in the 11th National Assembly.
He said this plan ties into the broader political roadmap leading up to the anticipated transition in 2031, emphasizing that “it is imperative for the North to present a viable and credible candidate for the Presidency.”
Suleiman said this forward-thinking strategy “underscores the necessity of consolidating political capital now to secure a robust and unified Northern front in the forthcoming electoral cycle.”
