The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikàlangu and other dignitaries on Tuesday, paid tribute to late activist and Senior Special Assistant on Community development to the chairman, Yunusa Yusuf, popularly called Buhun Borkonun Abuja.
Yusuf died on September 11, 2025 in Abuja at the age of 39.
At the well added funeral held at ECWA Kpaduma 1, Asokoro extension of the Federal Capital Territory, Maikàlangu described the late Yusuf as a great warrior who fought tirelessly for the rights of the people.
The Chairman acknowledged the impact of Buhun Borkonun passing, stating that the entire city had lost a great advocate.
He said that while death is inevitable, Buhun’s legacy would live on in the hearts of those he touched, especially the Abuja natives.
The Chairman prayed that God would raise more individuals like him, who would continue to fight for the rights and welfare of the people.
In his remarks at the well attended funeral, regional coordinator, Afro Arab Youth council West Africa, Akoshile Mukhtar said the sudden loss of a passionate advocate for good governance and youth rights in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has left a void in the advocacy community.
He said Buhun was more than just an advocate; he was a friend, a mentor, and a beacon of hope for many young people.
According to him, his dedication to advocacy was evident in his tireless efforts to checkmate government actions that were not in the best interest of the people.
