From John Silas, Lagos
In one of the most celebrated moments of the evening, the Commercial Director of Pernod Ricard Nigeria, Ikechukwu Agu (IK Agu), was announced as the Commercial Director of the Year 2025 at the prestigious Edge Awards in Lagos.
The Nigerian marketing and brand communications industry fully converged at the event, organised by Marketing Edge Magazine.
Agu, who has spent over 15 years excelling in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, has established himself as a transformative leader with a strong track record in revenue growth, innovation and brand-building.
At Pernod Ricard Nigeria, he has driven the growth of household names such as Martell, Jameson, Absolut, Imperial Blue, and Olmeca, each of whom is now a market leader under his watch.
Dedicating the honour to his team shortly after receiving the award, Agu said it was “not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective effort of my incredible team at Pernod Ricard and the partners who share our vision for growth and innovation.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition from Marketing Edge, and it inspires me to continue pushing boundaries, developing people, and creating value for our consumers and the industry at large.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Marketing Edge Magazine, John Ajayi, explained that Agu’s selection by the jury was unanimous given the clear alignment between his career achievements and the award’s criteria.
“Our jury carefully evaluates nominees based on measurable impact in revenue generation, brand growth, innovation and people development,” he explained.
“Ikechukwu Agu stood out not just for delivering impressive commercial results but also for his ability to launch and grow premium brands, inspire teams, and drive innovation in highly competitive markets.”
Ajayi added that Agu’s recognition also highlights the critical role of strong commercial leadership in shaping the future of Nigeria’s FMCG and beverage industries.
With this award, Agu’s influence as one of the leading commercial minds in Nigeria is further reinforced, while Edge Awards once again affirmed its place as the country’s premier stage for recognising marketing and business excellence.
