Dignitaries Pay Tribute to Illustrious Patriarch, Late John Emejiaka

Dignitaries gathered in Aba, Abia State, to pay their last respects and bid farewell to High Chief Egbu John Emejiaka (Enyioha l) during his burial ceremony on October 30, 2025, after a funeral service conducted by the Living World Church, followed by the interment.


The commercial city of Aba was alive with attendees from various sectors, honouring the life of the revered community leader, known for his discipline, integrity, and commitment to communal values.

The burial ceremony drew people from all walks of life, both from Nigeria and abroad. It was an event of international significance, a testament to the late Chief’s far-reaching influence and enduring legacy. The ceremony featured rich cultural performances and traditional tributes that honoured a man who lived a life of distinction, dignity, and service.


The event was graced by many prominent personalities, including distinguished lawmakers such as Senator Harcourt Enyinnaya Abaribe (representing Abia South Senatorial District) and Rt. Hon. Mascot Ikwecheghi (representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency).
The funeral brought together both past and present public figures, as well as captains of industry, reflecting the broad impact of Chief John’s life and contributions to society.


One of the most remarkable aspects of the occasion was the attendance of his brother and a very good friend, Nze James Egbu, who returned from the United States with his family to honour his memory. Their presence symbolised the deep respect and unity within the Emejiaka dynasty, as well as the enduring strength of family bonds across generations and continents.


Nze James Egbu said the late Chief Emejiaka’s was a selfless and caring person. “He was a remarkable philanthropist. He cares for the widows, the youths and indeed, the entire community. He shaped my life in a very significant way, influencing my relocation from the United Kingdom to the United States of America.”


He added: “Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy will forever inspire future generations.”


He observed that High Chief Egbu John Emejiaka, was widely known for his discipline, integrity, and commitment to communal values. His life of service and dedication to both family and society earned him respect across generations.


Family members, friends, and well-wishers expressed heartfelt appreciation for the profound ways in which Chief John’s life touched the community, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, generosity, and exemplary leadership.


Doctor Dionne Emejiaka, the deceased chief’s daughter, delivered a touching tribute in honour of her late father and later addressed the press, marking the ceremony’s solemn and memorable conclusion.


She eulogised his late father, describing him as his most excellent teacher, compassionate, kind, cheerful, and humble. She thanked sympathisers who paid personal visits and sent various messages of commiseration to the family.


In a tribute, his son-in-law, Chief Sam Okorie (Ihe 1 of Igbere), who is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Holafield Multiconcepts Nig Ltd., described his late father-in-law as a disciplinarian, a good and respected man, loving and caring mentor who instilled strong values in his family, children and even in-laws.


“My father-in-law lived a fulfilled life. He was a principled man who believed in hard work, honesty, and steadfastness. Beyond being a father-in-law, he was a mentor who guided us on the path of discipline and respect for humanity,” Chief Okorie said.


Prof. Uzoma Nwokocha, the National President of Ngwa Advancement Initiative, extended his condolences to the bereaved family and emphasised the importance of unity, compassion, and faith during periods of mourning. He described the late Chief Emejiaka as a man of honour whose contributions to his family and community will not be forgotten.


He said that though the loss pained them, they were nonetheless comforted by his good legacies, which will remain indelible and a source of inspiration to the younger generation.


Dignitaries at the event included Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who delivered a moving tribute, characterising High Chief Egbu John Emejiaka as a “trailblazer” who excelled in various spheres, including business, community development, and philanthropy.


Others are Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, member representing Aba North and South federal constituency; His Royal Highness, Eze Michael Ukaogu, the traditional ruler of Eziama Igbere Autonomous Community and the President General of Eziama Igbere; and a host of others too numerous to mention.
