The Ministry of Interior has taken a significant step towards digital transformation, announcing that all official communications will be conducted electronically starting December 1, 2025. This move aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2025) and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s directive for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to adopt electronic communication and records management.
In a press statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary for the Minister of Interior, the Ministry emphasized its commitment to strengthening service delivery, improving transparency, and supporting the Federal Government’s drive towards a fully digitalized public service.
As of December 1, 2025, the Ministry will no longer accept physical correspondence, including letters and mails. Instead, all official documents and requests must be submitted through the Ministry’s approved digital platforms. The designated channels for electronic communication are the Interior Correspondence Platform ((link unavailable)) and the Ministry of Interior Official Website ((link unavailable)).
This transition is expected to enhance service delivery, transparency, and efficiency, supporting the Federal Government’s drive towards a fully digitalized public service. The Ministry urges all MDAs, organizations, partners, and the public to comply with this directive for smooth processing of communications and requests.
The digital transformation initiative is a welcome development, as it will enable the Ministry to process requests more efficiently and effectively. It will also reduce the risk of physical documents getting lost or damaged, and provide a more secure and environmentally friendly way of communicating.
The Ministry’s decision to go digital is in line with global trends, as more and more governments and organizations are embracing digital transformation to improve their services and operations.
Overall, the Ministry of Interior’s decision to adopt electronic communication is a positive step towards modernizing its operations and improving service delivery.
