The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday led a Senate delegation to condole with the family of Senator Okechukwu Ezea, who passed away on November 18, 2025. The visit was preceded by an adjournment of Tuesday’s plenary to allow Senators pay their respects to the deceased lawmaker, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.

Akpabio described Senator Ezea as a man of peace, dignity, and respect, saying his passing was a shock to the Senate. “We are gathered here to commiserate with your family and let you know you are not alone in mourning your late husband, father, brother, and uncle,” he said.

The Senate President’s condolences were echoed by other lawmakers, who recalled Senator Ezea’s contributions to the Senate and the nation.

Jideofor Ezea, son of the late Senator, thanked the Senate President and delegation for their visit, saying the family’s comfort was in the prayers and words of encouragement from lawmakers.
