From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau
A passionate appeal has been made to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore calls for the removal of the Minister of State for defence, Bello Matawallen Maradun.
The appeal was made by the chairman, Peace Movement, Zamfara chapter, comrade Garba Sarki in an interview with our correspondent in the State over the weekend in Gusau.
The chairman said those calling for the removal of the Minister are not true sons and daughters of the State, otherwise they would not have thought of making such an unnecessary call as it only damages the whole arrangements made by President Tinubu of ridding the nation of insurgency.
According to the chairman, Nigeria does not need such crisis, what it needs now is those who will contribute their quota in moving it forward.
He explained that they are not unaware of the fact that some people are being used by some politicians in the State and even beyond to embark on such propaganda just for their selfish interest to ridicule the Minister, forgetting that the Minister had played a vital role in making the mission of Mr President a reality.
Said he, ” this man has performed efficiently during his reign as far as the issue of security was concerned and at the same time, he once chaired a national assembly committee on security and intelligence, and he delivered successfully”, he emphasized.
Speaking further, Garba Sarki stated that the Minister has the capacity and ability to run the affairs of the defence ministry as he possess all the requirements that are needed, “and those calling for his removal should know that it is not only Matawallen that lost, but the entire Zamfara, because he represents the State at Federal Executive Council level.”
Commenting further, Sarki narrated that the Peace Movement, the group that is always calling for peace and its maintenance, are of that opinion, and we believe that even the President needs peace, which is the most important ingredient of moving any nation forward.
The chairman therefore called on everyone in the State to forget about all those people who are only there to protect their individual interest at the expense of others.
