The Northern Senators Forum (SNF) has mourned the passing of Senator Godiya Akwashiki, representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District, who died on December 31, 2025. SNF Chairman Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua described Akwashiki’s commitment to public service as a shining example of selfless leadership.
In a press release, Yar’adua praised Akwashiki’s dedication to improving lives and promoting unity, saying his legacy will inspire future generations. Akwashiki’s political journey showcased perseverance and commitment, serving eight years in the Nasarawa State Assembly, rising to Deputy Speaker.
Akwashiki joined the Nigerian Senate in 2019, representing his constituents with integrity and passion. Re-elected in 2023, he championed the Eggon nation’s interests, earning respect from colleagues and constituents.
As a seasoned lawmaker, Akwashiki’s experience and insights will be deeply missed in the National Assembly. His contributions to legislative processes and committee work enriched Nigeria’s democracy.
Yar’adua extended condolences to Akwashiki’s family, Nasarawa State, and the Eggon nation, praying for his soul to rest in peace and his memory to guide Nigeria’s development.
