President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday signed into law the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2025 after its e eventual passage by both chambers of the National Assembly.
The signing of the Bill at the Presidential Villa, Abuja was witnessed by principal officers of the National Assembly.
According to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the harmonised report of the bill, including the contentious Section 60(3) was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday.
“The President a while ago appended his signature to the Electoral Amendment bill passed by the National Assembly on Tuesday”, Akpabio told State House correspondents after the signing ceremony.
The leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives had separately faced tough opposition from some lawmakers and sections of the public over the non-inclusion of mandatory real-time transmission of election results in the amendments to the Bill.
They however, surmounted the opposition and had the Bill passed by majority of both chambers of the federal legislature.
