Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has threatened that any pupil who is absent from school on Mondays would be suspended or outrightly expelled.
The threat was contained in a Public Notice signed by the ASUBEB Management on Tuesday.
The Notice reads: “This is to bring to your notice that the state government will henceforth suspend any pupil who fails to attend school on Mondays. Teachers will henceforth open a separate register of absentees on Mondays beginning from next Monday, 2nd March, 2026.
“Any pupil who absent himself or herself twice in a month will be suspended for the rest part of the month and if after the suspension continue to be absent from school on Monday and appear on Tuesday, the state government will ensure that such a learner is expelled from school. And will not be admitted in any school in Anambra whether private or public.
“The State government led by Gov Charles Soludo is international about about resuming work and school on Mondays in Anambra State.
“Please this directive must be adhered to, avoid being the scapegoat, be warned and be properly guided.”
