The political landscape in Taraba North Senatorial District appears to be shifting, as key contenders signal a renewed push to reshape representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
One of the leading aspirants, Kabiru Bello Badawaire, on Tuesday formally entered the race after picking up his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat in Jalingo.
Badawaire said the time had come for Ardo-Kola Local Government Area to produce a senator, noting that it remains the only one among the six local government areas in Taraba North yet to occupy the seat.
“With six local government areas making up the zone, Ardo-Kola is the only one that has not been represented in the Senate. It is only fair and just that the area is given the opportunity in 2027,” he said.
The aspirant assured constituents of quality representation, promising an open-door policy and inclusive leadership if elected to the Senate.
He pledged to serve “with the fear of the Almighty and to the best of my knowledge,” identifying security, youth empowerment and job creation as key priorities of his legislative agenda.
Badawaire also urged voters across Taraba North to support his candidacy, as well as re-elect Governor Agbu Kefas, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
On zoning, he appealed to political stakeholders in the district to respect existing internal arrangements by conceding the next senatorial slot to Ardo-Kola.
He said his decision to contest was motivated by a desire to deliver effective legislation and attract meaningful development to the district.
