Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has inspected the ongoing 35-kilometre Gembu–Lip Yan road project, a key route linking Nigeria to the Cameroon border through Gembu, the headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area.
During the inspection, the governor interacted with contractors at the site, assessing both the pace and quality of work. He expressed satisfaction with the level of progress, noting that the project is in line with expected standards and timelines.
Kefas commended the Federal Government for initiating the project and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside the Minister of Works, for their contributions to infrastructure development in Taraba State.
He further urged community stakeholders to cooperate with the construction company to ensure timely completion of the project. As part of corporate social responsibility, the governor also called on the contractors to consider constructing a school and a healthcare centre to benefit host communities.
Responding on behalf of the company, Resource Manager Legacy Matthew assured that the road would be completed on or before June 2027, reaffirming the firm’s commitment to delivering quality work.
The Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, and the Chairman of Sardauna Local Government Area also commended the project and pledged their continued support.
In a related development, Governor Kefas called for stronger collaboration between the church and government to address social challenges and promote development, as he attended the Mid-19th General Church Council meeting of the Mambilla Baptist Convention, Nigeria (MBCN), in Gembu.
Serving as Special Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker at the event held in Sardauna Local Government Area, the governor praised the MBCN for its role in promoting peace, moral values, and community development within Taraba State and beyond.
“The church remains a critical partner in our quest for a peaceful and prosperous Taraba. Your prayers, teachings, and humanitarian interventions continue to shape lives and strengthen our communities,” Kefas told church leaders, delegates, and members.
He urged religious leaders to remain steadfast in their spiritual and social responsibilities, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and continued support for faith-based institutions serving humanity.
