APP Adopts Chima Amadi as Consensus Candidate for Imo East Senate

Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi has emerged as the consensus senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for Imo East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amadi emerged during a zonal congress of the party held at the Iwuanyanwu Glass House State Secretariat, where delegates, stakeholders and party leaders from across the nine local government areas of Owerri Zone unanimously endorsed his candidacy.

The adoption followed a motion moved by the Mbaitoli Local Government Area Chairman of the party, Hon. Ugochukwu Metford Nnah, and seconded by the Zonal Chairman, Engr. Henry Alaribe. The motion received overwhelming support from delegates at the congress.

The exercise was conducted by a committee led by Barr. Obed Agor and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner.

Also present at the congress were the APP National Chairman, Barr. Uche Nnadi, members of the National Executive Committee, lawmakers of the party, newly emerged House of Representatives candidates and other stakeholders.

Party leaders described Amadi as a grassroots mobiliser and bridge-builder with the experience and leadership qualities required to represent the interests of Imo East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

They said his emergence followed extensive consultations among party faithful and stakeholders across the zone.
According to the party, Amadi enjoys strong support among youths, women and professionals due to his involvement in humanitarian activities, empowerment programmes and community development initiatives.

The APP said the zone requires effective representation driven by competence, accountability and legislative capacity, stressing that Amadi possesses the qualities needed to provide purposeful leadership.

The congress also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency and issue-based politics.
In his acceptance speech, Amadi described his emergence as both an honour and a challenge, assuring party members and supporters of his commitment to service-oriented leadership.

He said the journey to reposition Imo State would begin with effective representation at the National Assembly, adding that governance must prioritise the welfare and interests of the people.

Amadi also expressed concern over insecurity and the loss of lives in the state, while calling for responsive leadership and renewed hope for the people of Imo State.
The statement was signed by Cajetan Duke, Chief Press Secretary to Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi.
