From Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo

Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Taraba Chapter, Hon. Moses Maihankali has sued for peace, unity and understanding among Tarabans as the country marks Democracy Day anniversary.

He equally solicited support from all residents in the State for the re-election of Governor Agbu Kefas in the 2027 general election.

Maihankali ,who stated this during an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Jalingo, said governor Kefas deserved re-election in 2027 considering his unprecedented records of achievements during the period under review.

He further emphasized that Governor Kefas commitment to duties has brought to bear the massive peoples-oriented projects currently going on in the state.

In his anniversary message, Maihankali said democracy can only thrive when citizens prioritize tolerance and collective progress over division.

“Democracy is sustained not just by institutions, but by the attitude to peace and unity in our homes, communities, states and across nations, said the ALGON chairman,” he said.

According to him, Nigeria’s diversity in ethnicity, religion and culture should be seen as strength rather than a source of conflict.

He noted that dialogue and mutual respect and patriotism are critical to overcoming the country’s current economic and security challenges.

The ALGON chairman urged the political class to uphold transparency and justice while citizens must play their part through responsible conduct and civic engagement.

“Let us use this democracy day as a collective resolve to peace, development and opportunities and commemorates Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999 and honors the spirit of the annulled June, 12. 1993 elections,” the ALGON chairman added.
