The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has graduated 62 senior officers from the 13th Command Course at the Immigration Command and Staff College, Sokoto.

The three-month intensive programme, which ended on Saturday, focused on strategic leadership, Border Security, and Migration Management as part of the Service’s push for leadership development and institutional capacity building.

Comptroller-General (CG) of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, was represented by Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) SU Agba, who charged the graduates to uphold professionalism, integrity, and excellence in service. Agba reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to building a highly professional, disciplined, and technology-driven workforce to address emerging migration and border security challenges.

The 62 officers were conferred with the Pass Command Course, PCC, honour, a credential that places them in the Service’s senior leadership pipeline. Other highlights included the presentation of awards to outstanding participants, while Commandant of the College, ACG A.D. Bagari, decorated Course Provosts with a Badge of Honour for exemplary service.

Commandant Bagari commended the graduands for completing the rigorous programme and urged them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve operational effectiveness and safeguard Nigeria’s borders. He said the training was designed to move officers from tactical responses to systems thinking and technology-enabled operations.

The ceremony attracted a representative of the Sultan of Sokoto, heads and representatives of other security agencies, and other invited guests who commended the NIS for investing in leadership. According to a press statement signed by DCI AS Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer, the event reflects the NIS strategy of linking training directly to performance across Commands and Formations.

Officials said the graduation confirms the NIS doctrine of matching technology and discipline with leaders who can think, adapt, and command. With the 62 PCC holders returning to formations nationwide, the Service expressed confidence that the training would translate into stronger, smarter management of Nigeria’s land, air, and sea borders.
