Alausa hails Tinubu, security agencies over rescue of abducted Oyo pupils, teachers

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire community, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the operation as a strong indication of the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives of Nigerian children.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, the minister also acknowledged the contributions of the Oyo State Government and security agencies, whose coordinated efforts culminated in the safe release of the victims.

According to the statement, Alausa expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for providing leadership throughout the rescue operation and ensuring that every available measure was deployed to secure the victims’ freedom.

He also commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the state government for working closely with security agencies, supporting the rescue mission, and making arrangements for the welfare, rehabilitation and reintegration of the rescued pupils and teachers with their families.

The minister further applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and other security and intelligence agencies involved in the operation, noting that their professionalism, coordination and commitment led to the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of those responsible for the abduction.

“The successful rescue of these innocent children and their teachers is a moment of great relief for the nation. It reflects the determination of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to protect the lives of Nigerians and demonstrates the growing effectiveness of collaboration among the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and our security agencies.

“On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, I congratulate Mr. President on this important achievement. I also commend the Oyo State Government for its support and commitment throughout this difficult period, and sincerely appreciate the bravery, patriotism and tireless efforts of all the security personnel whose dedication made this rescue possible. Their collective efforts have restored hope to the affected families and reassured Nigerians that our institutions remain resolute in confronting criminality.”

Alausa sympathised with the rescued pupils, teachers and their families over the ordeal they experienced in captivity, expressing hope for their full physical and psychological recovery.

He reiterated the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Education to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to strengthen security measures in schools nationwide in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.

The minister also urged parents, host communities, school administrators and other stakeholders to remain vigilant and continue supporting government efforts by cooperating with security agencies to ensure schools across the country remain safe for teaching and learning.
