The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has been honoured with the Gazelle News 2026 Governor of the year award for grassroots development.
The award was in recognition of the Governor’s exceptional leadership and transformative achievements recorded across key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare delivery, agriculture, rural development, social welfare, women and youth empowerment, and inclusive governance, among others.
The Governor who was represented at the occasion by his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, took place on Wednesday, at the Radisson Blu hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, during the annual Gazelle News lecture and awards.
Mukhtar Gidado, in a statement, said that the organizers noted that the Governor’s people-oriented policies and programs have significantly Improved the peoples’ quality of life, positioning the state as one of Nigeria’s emerging models of sustainable inclusive development.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, expressed the Governor’s appreciation to the management of Gazelle News for the recognition, describing it as validation of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to positively impacting on the lives of the people.
While saying that the administration remains focused on consolidating and expanding on achievements recorded, he stated that the Governor considers every recognition as a call to greater service and assured that his administration would remain steadfast in its commitment to transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and sustainable development.
The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on media and communication, Chief Sunday Dare, delivered the keynote lecture, entitled, “Driving grassroots governance with public-private partnership: The gains, the pains, the prospects”.
In his address, he described visionary leadership, effective communication, accountability and good governance as important in fostering national development and strenghtening democratic institutions.
Earlier speaking, the editor-in-chief of the Gazelle News, Mr. Musba’u Rasak, said that the annual lecture and award was instituted to recognize individuals whose contributions have made meaningful impacts on governance and socio-economic development across Nigeria.
Several prominent personalities from different sectors of the economy were also honoured at the occasion for their outstanding contributions and exemplary service to the nation.
The event was attended by political leaders, policy makers, media executives, business leaders, traditional rulers, and CSO representatives, among others.
