The Senior Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Governor on the School Feeding Programme, Fauziya Buhari-Ado, has praised Governor Uba Sani for implementing reforms that have strengthened the state’s education sector, particularly through initiatives designed to improve school enrolment and pupil retention.

Buhari-Ado made the remarks after receiving an award for excellence and commitment to advancing education at the 2026 Annual Education Summit of the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN) in Abuja.

She thanked the association for the honour, describing the recognition as an encouragement to deepen her commitment to the education sector.

According to her, the achievements recorded under the Kaduna State School Feeding Programme have been made possible by Governor Sani’s leadership and support. She noted that the initiative has continued to boost school attendance, improve retention rates among pupils, and promote the welfare of children across the state.

She further applauded the governor’s wider development agenda, stating that investments in education infrastructure, social intervention programmes and human capital development have significantly improved learning opportunities and transformed the education landscape in Kaduna State.

The ECAN summit also focused on education reforms and accountability. During the event, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, urged journalists to adopt data-driven reporting by leveraging the Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure Management System to track learning outcomes and promote greater transparency within the education sector.

Other participants, including the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, and the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions, development partners and the media to sustain ongoing reforms and improve education delivery nationwide.
