The David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, came alive with tributes on the birthday of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jesse Uneke, as members of the university community hailed his leadership and contributions to the institution’s growth.
Principal officers, deans, directors, heads of departments and other staff described the pioneer Vice-Chancellor as a visionary administrator whose commitment to academic excellence, research and institutional development has transformed DUFUHS into one of Nigeria’s leading specialised universities.
Leading the goodwill messages, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Nkiruka Folaranmi, and the Registrar, Mr. Vitalis Ofor, commended Prof. Uneke’s integrity, discipline and commitment to excellence, praying for continued good health and greater accomplishments.
Other officials, including the University Librarian, Dr. Kingsley Igwe; Bursar, Dr. Charles Nwobia; Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Prof. Tina Nweze; and Director of SERVICOM, Cardinal A. Umahi, lauded the Vice-Chancellor’s achievements, particularly his role in strengthening research, expanding infrastructure and enhancing the university’s national and international reputation.
They noted that initiatives such as the Institute of Molecular Microbiology Research and the Institute of Eye Health and Vision Science Research have positioned DUFUHS as a hub for medical research and innovation.
Responding, Prof. Uneke thanked members of the university community for the goodwill and prayers, describing the office of Vice-Chancellor as a divine privilege. He attributed the institution’s achievements to the collective commitment of staff and reaffirmed his resolve to advance academic excellence, research and quality service delivery.
The celebration featured goodwill messages, presentation of gifts, cultural performances and prayers for the Vice-Chancellor’s continued health, wisdom and successful leadership.
