The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise.
He also directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 exercise to ensure eligible workers are promoted without delay.
The approval, announced by Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and underscores the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to staff welfare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ezeh said the promotion examinations for senior officers were conducted from July 1 to 3, while junior officers sat for theirs on July 10, commending Wike for providing the support that enabled the commission to successfully conduct the exercise.
He said the minister had directed the commission to begin the 2026 promotion exercise immediately to ensure eligible officers receive their promotions as and when due.
He added that the directive reflects the administration’s resolve to match the ongoing infrastructure transformation in the FCT with improved staff welfare and career development, while urging workers preparing for the 2026 exercise to begin early, noting that promotion remains merit-based, competitive and subject to available vacancies.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This complements the tremendous work the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development, and workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking Mr President’s third anniversary,” Ezeh said.
