Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has described the death of one of the nation’s heroes and elder statesmen, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, as a monumental loss not only to Adamawa and Taraba states, but to the entire nation.
Kefas stated this during a condolence visit to the family of the late Bamanga Tukur in Yola, Adamawa State, where he described the late sage and former governor of the defunct Gongola State as a father to all.
The governor, who led a delegation of senior government officials and political leaders from Taraba State, was received on arrival by one of the elder sons of the deceased statesman.
Governor Kefas expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, praying to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi (Eternal Rest).
The governor was accompanied by the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena; the Majority Leader of the House, Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu; APC State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa; Secretary to the State Government, Chief GT Kataps, Esq.; Head of Civil Service, Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara; Hon. Kabir Jalo; Habu Isa Ajiya; and APC Organising Secretary, Mr. Edward Bobzon.
It will be recalled that the late Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died at the age of 90 on September 12, 2026, was a former governor of the defunct Gongola State, Minister of Industries, General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority, and National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His public service spanned decades and left an enduring imprint on Nigeria’s political, administrative and economic landscape.
