The Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), through its Department of Development Control, has engaged a consultant to investigate the partial collapse of a residential building in Wuse 2, Abuja.
The incident occurred over the weekend at Plot 496, Cadastral Zone A08, Wuse 2 District, with no casualty recorded.
In a statement issued by the Director development control, Bashir Madaki Sanusi, said the consultant would conduct an integrity test to establish the possible cause of the collapse, assess the stability of the remaining structure and recommend appropriate measures.
It added that officials had commenced the evacuation of debris from the affected site to ensure safety and facilitate further assessment.
According to the department, subsequent actions would be guided by the outcome of the technical assessment and recommendations of the professionals engaged.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to promoting building safety, enforcing compliance with approved building regulations and protecting lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
