Wike inaugurates Dunamis-built pedestrian bridge in Abuja

By Daniel Tyokua

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a pedestrian bridge constructed by Dunamis International Gospel Centre, at Lugbe on the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road.

Speaking at the inauguration on Friday, Wike
urged religious organisations and corporate bodies to complement government efforts through investments in public infrastructure.

Wike said leadership should be measured not by promises or declarations but by tangible projects that improve lives and address the needs of society.

The minister commended the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, and his wife for extending the church’s activities beyond spiritual responsibilities to projects that benefit the wider community.

Wike noted that constructing public infrastructure required sacrifices, adding that the church had demonstrated its willingness to deploy resources towards improving public safety and residents’ welfare.

The minister also recalled that Dunamis had approached the FCT Administration over the project in 2018, but renewed its application in February 2026, which was subsequently approved.

He said the administration remained willing to support initiatives that promote public safety and community development, adding that government would consider a 50 per cent contribution towards an associated project.

“Watching the documentary and seeing what you have done, touching lives, not only by winning soul, but talking about the welfare of other people, that is leadership,” he said.

In his remarks, Enenche said the Christian faith required practical expressions of love through giving, selflessness and service to humanity.

He maintained that people should be remembered for the problems they solved and the positive impact they made, rather than the wealth they accumulated.

The cleric said the church’s responsibility went beyond preaching and spiritual ministrations to include interventions that improve people’s living conditions and contribute to societal development.

The commissioning highlighted the role of partnerships between government and religious institutions in providing infrastructure and addressing public safety concerns in the FCT.
