Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso has declared to run for the v2023 presidential election on the platfporm of his new found political party, New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP)
The former kano state Governor paid the required N30m and obtained the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Kwankwaso, who was received by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Rufai Alkali and the National Organising Secretary, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and other members of the National Working Committee dismissed both the ruling APC and the PDP as political associations that were given the opportunity to govern but failed Nigerians.
This is even as the NNPP has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), not tp celeberate the capture of two political heavy weights in Zamfara sae, former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa
The romance of some opposition political parties with the lost estranged members of the ruling APC has left the political atmosphere in Zamfara State tense since the announcement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and their supporters joined the party.
In a swift reaction, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Abubakar Yarima Bomo, stated in a statement said the battle is yet to be won by the PDP as claimed,
He insisted it is not yet over until Yari and Marafa make public declarations of the party of their choice.
“We have also engaged the duo and serious consultation is going on to woo the two political heavyweights in the State.
“Everybody in Zamfara State knows that former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara are great materials and no party would afford to miss them politically due to their political prowess”
Bomo said the PDP should not be jubilating now as they are believing that they have won over the hearts of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara, warning that the battle over who wins the souls of the two political heavyweights in the State is still ongoing.
“The PDP thought that they were playing a fast game but they failed to understand that the likes of former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and senator Kabiru Garba Mafara are not newcomers in Zamfara State politics and can never change their minds”
“We, therefore, urge former Governor Abdulaziz Yari and Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara to as a matter of urgency embrace the political party that would adjust to their interest”
Meanwhile, the Publicity Chairman of the Abdulaziz Yari camp, Ibrahim Birinin Magaji has denied reports that the two political heavyweights in the state have jpined the PDP
Magaji, who admitted that his principal and senator Marafa have held talks with the PDP in Zamfara, noted that the PDP leadership in the state was hasty in making a public state on the deliberations, adding that there has been no decision taken yet by the two leaders
While confirming that they have lost confidence in the APC, he added that they would announce to their teeming supporters when they are done with discussions.
