The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has promised foreign missions a secured environment in the Nation’s capital, Abuja.
Wike in a separate meetings with Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency, Christophe Bazivamo and the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Annika Hahn-Englund, said president Bola Tinubu had instructed him to ensure that all foreign missions in Abuja have a peaceful and safe environment to operate.
He appreciated the envoys for acknowledging the progress FCT Administration had achieved in infrastructure transformation and security in the capital city.
The minister equally noted that his administration shall continue to cooperate with foreign investors who will come to Abuja with the support of their various countries.
While he pledged to collaborate with Rwandan investors in environmental issues, expressed interest in partnering with Swedish investors on digital technologies and transportation.
Wike said, “ We are happy that you’re appreciating what we are doing on infrastructure and security in Abuja. It is our duty to make all things convenient for all foreign Embassies”.
In his remarks, the Rwandan High Commissioner, Christophe Bazivamo, reiterate potential areas of cooperation between the FCT and Kigali. Within the framework of Rwanda Cooperation.
According to him, “We see promising opportunities for collaboration in various sectors, including e- governance, environmental management, renewable energy, and infrastructure development and management”.
Bazivamo further sated that Rwanda currently offers visa-free entry to all Africans, Commonwealth, and OIF citizens. In the spirit of reciprocity, Rwanda has wished to propose facilitating the free movement of people (visa waiver), especially for ordinary passport holders to ease business between both countries.
He said this would also ease the implementation of the Bilateral Air Service Agreement, allowing for direct connectivity and increased trade and tourism between our two nations, but most importantly the implementation of African Continental Agreement.
The Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund, noted that her country would like to strengthen the bilateral relationship it has enjoyed with Nigeria over the years.
She also disclosed that her country has a comparative advantage in the area of digital technologies and transportation management.
According to her, there are investors in her country with enough capacity to collaborate with the FCT Administration.
