The leadership of Gwagwalada Area Council has denied the reports in some quarters that Zuba International Market is closed.
The Area Council secretary who is also member of the Council’s committee on Private Public Partnership (PPP), Alhaji Muhammed Saba said the report in some national dailies about closure of the market also known as Red Bricks Market is untrue.
In a statement issued by the secretary on Tuesday, said the market is operational and the allegations are unfounded.
He said the Council engaged Lion Property Consult Enterprise Limited to upgrade and manage the market due to resource constraints and not revocation.
Saba explained that the Council is committed to protecting the traders’ interests and those of the developer and must uphold the trust.
According to the statement, there was nothing like forceful renovation and shutdown, assuring the public that the market remains open for business.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer Lion Property Consult Enterprise Limited, Mazi Agu Okechukwu , also denied the market’s closure, stating that no individual or group can shut down the market, which belongs to Gwagwalada Area Council.
He said the market has been upgraded and encouraged FCT residents to visit the modernized Zuba International Market for their businesses.
Okechukwu described the reports as unfounded even as he urged the public to feel free to transact business in the market.
