Leader of Team Nwawelugo Movement, Chief Ikechukwu C Anonye, has urged governments at all levels to take action against poverty and other maladies that have wreaked havoc on humanity even when it is avoidable.

He made the this statement on the international day for the eradication of poverty.

In a statement made available to The Authority, Chief Anonye stated that, “On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Team Nwawelugo Movement joins the global community in calling for concerted efforts to eliminate poverty”.

He noted that poverty remains a pervasive, perpetuated by corruption and poor governance in Nigeria.

He emphasized that stakeholders must recognize the inseparable link between poverty elimination and corruption eradication adding that to effectively address poverty, “we must tackle corruption head-on, ensuring accountability and justice for all”.

He reasoned that strengthening anti-corruption institutions and enforcing existing laws, investigating and prosecuting corrupt individuals regardless of position or influence will certainly bring down the level of corruption.

Other measures , according to him, includes Implementing transparent and accountable governance practice as well as investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to create opportunities.
