Procurement Process for Dei-Dei – Lifecamp road is 80 per cent completed – Wike

By Daniel Tyokua

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said the procurement process for the award of 17 kilometre Dei-Dei -Lifecamp road construction is at 80 per cent.

He disclosed this on Tuesday, during the inspection of the ongoing Saburi 1& 2 road construction in the area.

Wike said the process is at the verge of completion but was waiting for the Bureau of Public procurement to issue the certificate of no objection from the BPP.

He explained that President Bola Tinubu is providing good governance to the people of the Federal Capital Territory as part of the renewed hope agenda promise he had made.

“When you say good governance, provision of infrastructure and other things are all inclusive, providing security is also good governance, making sure that people have quality education is also good governance, being transparent is also part of good governance, so governance is inclusive of basic good infrastructure, being transparent, education all these we are doing is part of Mr. President’s renewed hope agenda.

“Obviously we are happy, the people are happy and we are happy with that. And that shows that they appreciate the essence of the renewed hope agenda.

“You know, what I tell people is just for them to be patient , Nigerians, because things have been so bad they don’t want to be patient but we can see that the fruit of democracy is coming out, maybe not the way you want it, but slowly but at the end of the day it is important that the people are happy, and for me that makes me happy just as we are standing here and everybody is happy.”

“Already it is almost completed, and you can see how happy they are. What I always say is that we believe that part of the renewed hope agenda is to make promises and fulfill the promises we have made. So obviously we have gone ahead to satisfy the people.”

Wike said the contractor has assured that the 5km Saburi road will be ready in December this year.

“The contractor has insisted that this road will be completed in December, except the new bridge which was not initially in the plan of work. But during the last rainy season the culvert was quite flooded, so we had to turn it to a bridge and they have said that to complete that bridge will take them two months after the completion of the project.

“The 17 km Dei Die – Life Camp road procurement process is 80 percent completed, only that they are waiting for the Bureau of Public Procurement to issue the Certificate of No Objection from the BPP”
