Kubwa, Nyanya, Karu, others beg FCTA for good roads

By Abbah Eku-Onyekachi

Residents of Kubwa, Nyanya, Karu, Lugbe, Mabushi, Durumi, Jahi and Dutse have appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to award contracts for the construction of internal roads within the areas, rather than concentrating on resurfacing existing roads in the Federal Capital City.

The residents, who prefer to remain anonymous to avoid being victimized, noted that since the FCT approved the construction of residential and commercial buildings in their places, government have failed to do the internal roads in those areas.

“We cannot understand why the FCT Minister should concentrate efforts to scrape quality good roads in the city center and reward same for resurfacing, whereas we have never seen any tarred road here.

“Even as several of us have been paying our Ground Rent and taxes, it appears Wike is only interested in redoing places that already have good roads but chose to abandoned these places.

“What exist here as you can see are terrible earth roads which have developed deep pot holes that damage our vehicles. Even Keke or Okada throw people off Everytime due to the terrible roads here and we wonder if we are part of the FCT or only those resident at the city centers.

“We therefore appeal to the Minister to review his current policy or resurfacing places with good roads and do the roads in the hinterlands and area Councils which have remained terrible over the years,” they stated.
