The traditional ruler of Idu village, the host community of Idu Industrial Area in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), HRH Mohammed Bawa Makama, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the FCT Minister, Barr Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for reconstructing the road passing through their domain.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Makama commended the minister’s efforts, noting that his community has greatly benefited from his effective performance.

Makama, who recently celebrated 21 years in office as the community’s traditional ruler, had earlier conferred the title of Sardauna Ayuka of Idu on the Minister on June 12, 2024. The traditional ruler urged his subjects to support the government and cooperate with the construction company handling the road project. “We are grateful for the minister’s efforts, and we urge our people to give the government their deserved support,” Makama said.

The Idu traditional ruler emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and the community. He appealed to those in authority to continue to remember the original inhabitants of the FCT and the residents in all their dealings. “By working together, the limit will be everybody’s limit,” Makama added.

Makama also spoke at length on the need for the government to allow the community to stay in their ancestral home. “We are willing to develop our places in line with the modern capital cities of the world,” he said. He advised the Minister to continue to involve God in all his dealings, which he believed would bring success and prosperity.

The government has awarded a contract for the reconstruction of the road from Dei Dei junction to Idu, down to Lifecamp junction of the FCT. The project is currently underway, with construction workers and others working tirelessly to complete the road.

Makama’s commendation of the minister’s efforts is a testament to the positive impact of good governance on communities. The Idu community looks forward to continued development and progress under the leadership of Minister Wike.
