All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) said no aspirant in the August 29 Anambra State local government election has been endorsed by the party.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mazi Ejimofor made declaration in a press release.
The statement reads, “The attention of the National Working Committee of APGA has been drawn to a video circulating on social media, purportedly showing the Anambra State Chairman of our great Party openly endorsing an aspirant as the candidate of the Party in Idemili South LGA in the forthcoming Local Government elections in Anambra State.
“While investigation is still ongoing to determine the veracity or authenticity of the alleged video, the National Working Committee categorically disclaims the said action.
“The State Chairman of our Party or indeed any other officer of the party lacks the authority to make such a categorical statement or purportedly endorse an aspirant for an election without undergoing a credible and transparent primary election.
“The sweeping statement contained in the said video runs contrary to the democratic principles and ideals upon which APGA is founded and same is hereby condemned.
“The National Working Committee of APGA has set up a Committee to investigate the now viral video with a view to determining the veracity or otherwise of the alleged video and to mete out appropriate disciplinary measures.”
The party reassured all aspirants of APGA in the forthcoming LG primaries that adequate arrangements have been made to guarantee a free, fair, and credible process.
APGA enjoined all aspirants to familiarize themselves with the approved primary elections Guidelines and the Constitution of the Party for proper guidance.
